Mirror

If you intend to move to the left, check Centre Mirror then Left Mirror.
If you intend to move to the right, check Centre Mirror then Right Mirror.
Make sure you take note of what you see.

Signal

If you intend to move left, Signal Left.
If you intend to move right, Signal Right.
If your indicator stalk is on the left then down is left, up is right.
If your indicator stalk is on the right then down is right, up is left.
Be carefull with your signals, try not to confuse other drivers or pedestrians.
For example: if you are pulling over to park just past a junction, make sure you only signal AFTER you have passed the junction,

Manoeuvre

Before you pull over to park use the SCALP routine
If you are pulling over to the left, steer gently towards the kerb, (Use focus point)
Once there keep it straight by gently steering right, then back to center again, gently apply the foot brake with enough pressure to stop you at your chosen point (SCALP). about 2 car lengths before stoping clutch down, hold it down.
The 2 car lenghs is just a guide, if you are in a higher gear then you would push the clutch down earlier
(Secure the car.) Apply the hand brake, select neutral, cancel signal, feet off pedals, relax.

Always check right mirror and right blind spot before opening drivers door.

The MSM routine, When ?

MSM is used any time you pull over to park, change lanes on a Dual Carriageway, Motorway, Roundabouts or One Way Systems

The MSM routine, Why ?

If you intend to change your positon in the road, then you need to know what is in the position you intend to move to, you also need to know if anything is already trying to get into the position you intend to move to,(especially when changing lanes.)
Hence the need to check the center mirror, (What is behind me ?).
Then the left or right mirror (Depending on the direction you are moving) (Is there anything trying to get where I want to be ?)
Signal is to let others know what you intend to do.
Manoeuver varifies your signal,
Keep them seperate, Mirror first, then signal, then manoeuver.
