The ONLY Driving Instructor to offer a private online progress report

Why choose me as your instructor
Firstly I am FULLY QUALIFIED as both a Driving Instructor and a Motorcycle Instructor.
This gives me the advantage of understanding the road from both points of view, it also helps when pupils are either Ex bikers,
or are just going to a car after riding a scooter for a year.

Who am I

My name is Mark Walters, Originally from Portsmouth, I now live in Alvaston, Derby.
I was born in August 1960 (Star sign = Leo)
I am a friendly outgoing person with a positive attitude to life, I am a very good communicator and very easy to get on with.
I have a 22 year old daughter and two sons aged 18 and 14, so I am able to communicate and relate to the younger generation.
I am very patient and understanding, I recognize that people learn at different speeds, so I teach everybody according to their individual needs.
Because of the way I explain each aspect of what is needed to drive safely and pass a driving test, my pupils are always made to feel at ease.
  • I NEVER shout at a pupil.
  • I NEVER invade their space.
  • I NEVER patronise lady drivers.
  • I NEVER car share
  • I NEVER spend 20 minutes driving, and the rest talking

Pass Rates

I often get asked "What is your pass rate"
Well, this is a very open question, technically my pass rate is 100% (Everybody that I teach passes their test)
But not always the first time, I cannot make somebody who is nervous, un-nervous, I have had pupils who can drive well above
test standard, but on the day the nerves have got the better of them and they make a mistake. So would you say that that is my fault. this fail would show in my pass rate. I always say that the best way of judging an instructor is to try them for yourself, if necessary talk to other pupils that have been, or are being trained.

So why do I do this job.

It all stems from teaching people IT (Information Technology) Computers / Networking etc...
I needed to do something that gave me the same satisfaction but with a shorter learning curve while maintaining my independence.
I've always enjoyed driving so I thought it would be a logical step to teach people to drive.
With that in mind I gave up IT and enrolled in a course to become a Driving Instructor

The course

Becoming a Driving Instructor consists of 3 parts, each of which has a test at the end of the training.
  • Part 1 is the theory test similar to the one you take when learning to drive (Except we get 100 questions)
  • Part 2 is a driving test again similar to the one you take when learning to drive (Except we are on test for about 90 mins)
  • Part 3 is the teaching ability, we are tested to see if we are able to teach pupils to drive in the manor set out by the DSA
I completed the 3 parts in 3½ months from start to finish.

As far as I know that is one of the fastest times this has been done.

I must point out at this stage that after completing part 2 a PDI (Potential Driving Instructor) can apply for a trainee licence.
This allows them to carry on with their training while teaching pupils to drive, (Hmmm, A learner teaching a learner)
If you want to be sure that you are being taught by a fully qualified instructor, make sure they have a Green badge.
Trainee instructors have a pink badge,
