The Cockpit Drill should be performed Every Time you get into the drivers seat in any vehicle, Even your own

Doors

Check the doors are closed, Remember, you as the driver are responsible for all the doors

Seat

Adjust seat distance, You should be able to depress the clutch without having to stretch your leg, remember in most vehicles there is an adjustment for up and down, as well as back and forward.
Check the head restraint for correct position, (center of the head)

Steering

The correct position for the arms is slightly bent while holding the wheel at the Ten - Two or Quarter - Three position.
Clench your fist, sit back in your seat, then adjust your seat so your wrist will sit on the top of the steering wheel, when your hands now move to hold the wheel they will be in the correct position.

Seat Belt

Hold the Seat belt buckle with your left hand, then pull some slack from the belt with your right hand, make sure the buckle clips firmly, then just at about chest level give the belt a quick pull to check operation. The belt should lock as you pull (If not pull faster)

Mirrors

Adjust both side mirrors, you should just be able to see the side of your vehicle in the side mirrors with the center line of the vehicle lining roughly in the center of the mirror.
(Exterior mirrors are convex)
Adjust the interior mirror to see clearly out the back window making sure it is set so the off side of the vehicle can be seen, this can be achieved by adjusting the mirror so you can just see the drivers head restraint.
Once the above drill is complete, you should then move on to the Accelerator, Foot brake, and Clutch.
Just touch them with your feet to make sure they are operating correctly.

Check the Handbrake is on, (Up position) Always hold in the button when applying the hand brake
Check the gear lever is in the neutral position.
